Since I am an advocate of natural cures as an alternative to conventional medicines, I subscribe only to natural methods of yeast infection treatment.  Some of the most commonly used remedies include the following:

Yeastrol Natural Homeopathic Relief from Yeast Infections 1 ~ Spray BottleYogurt.  Yogurt contains lactobacillus acidophilus, a good bacteria that can help fight yeast infection.  Be sure to use the unsweetened variety as sugar will just attract yeast and induce their propagation. Just dip a tampon in yogurt and place in the vagina until the symptoms go away. Eating a cup of yogurt everyday for a week after the symptoms of yeast infection go away could also be beneficial. 

Tea tree oil.  Tea tree oil can be used directly by pouring a few drops of it on a tampon and inserting this into the vagina.  Since tea tree oil is a very strong antiseptic, only a few drops is recommended to avoid very strong stinging sensation. Tea tree oil suppositories are also available in some health stores.

Garlic.  Since garlic is well-known for its anti-fungal properties, it is a very effective remedy for yeast infection.  It can be used both directly on the affected area and taken internally as a supplement.  For direct application, wrap garlic with some lubricant in gauze and insert into the vagina overnight.  As a supplement, take one garlic clove a day at the start of the infection or you may opt to take garlic tablets that are available in most health stores.

Apple cider vinegar.  Apple cider is very effective in killing yeast; however, since it can cause very strong burning sensation that you may not be able to tolerate, it is recommended that about a cup be added to your bath and this will provide you with soothing relief.

Oil of oregano.  Dilute a few drops of oregano oil in olive oil and apply with a cotton ball to the vagina.  Mixing with olive oil is recommended for sensitive areas like the vagina.  

These remedies are effective quick remedies to yeast infection. However, yeast infection are likely to recur and a more permanent remedy and treatment is sought by most sufferers.  Again, as an advocate of natural alternatives to health, I can only recommend natural cures for yeast infection.  I have come across a holistic system for curing yeast infections permanently.  It is an all-natural method of treatment without using drugs, creams and conventional yeast infection cures and can be used on women, men and even children. Although the best way to be sure you have yeast infection is to consult a doctor, following are some of the symptoms that may indicate having the infection :

         Vaginal itching that can get so bad it disables you from doing your regular activities

         Burning sensation in the vagina or vulvar area

         White vaginal discharge that looks like cottage cheese

         Painful sexual intercourse because of vaginal inflammation

         Vaginal odor that smells like yeast

         Painful or frequent urination in some cases

Take note that some other forms of infection may demonstrate the same symptoms of yeast infection:

Bacterial infection.  As with yeast infection, symptoms include vulvar itching or pain. But unlike the discharge in yeast infection, bacterial infection discharge is color green or brown and will smell like fish rotting.

UTI or urinary tract infection.  UTI is sometimes accompanied by fever, which does not hold true for yeast infection.  Burning pain when urinating, pain in the lower abdomen and sometimes blood or mucus in the urine may accompany urinary tract infection but not yeast infection. 

Although it is possible that men with yeast infection may have no symptoms at all, the most common symptom is an itch around the penis and a burning sensation during urination.  Although yeast infection is not considered as a sexually transmitted disease, this infection can be transmitted through sexual intercourse.  Preventive measures such as using of condoms is advisable.

You may have, at one time or another, experienced yeast infection.  What is it?  Yeast infection is caused by the fungus Candida albicans.  This fungus is normally present in small amounts in a woman's vagina, but once the fungus multilplies rapidly, this results to infection or candidiasis.  Once this occurs, women often experience vaginal itch and white vaginal discharge and can be a source of intense discomfort.  

There are several possible causes of yeast infection :


Compromised immune system.  Women with a weakened immune system are prone to yeast infection as when the immune system is weak, bacteria grows and multiplies faster

Antibiotics. Antibiotics are probably the leading cause of yeast infection in women.  As the antibiotics kill the bad bacteria, it also kills the good bacteria in the vagina, thus, upsetting the balance in your system

Hormones.  Hormonal changes affect the Ph balance and trigger yeast infection.  Candida albicans thrive on an acidic environment, and an acidic environment happens when your Ph levels are low.  Pregnant women and those taking contraceptives are susceptible to this.   Contraceptives cause hormonal fluctuations, thus, triggering the occurrence and recurrence of yeast infection.  During menstruation, Ph levels usually go up, thus, yeast infection do not usually occur during this time.  

Diabetes.  Because diabetics or people with elevated levels of sugar have sugar in their urine, yeast infections are likely to occur more often as yeast feeds on the sugar.

Sexual transmission.  Candida albicans can be transmitted through direct sexual contact.

Douches.  Douching eliminates odor-causing bacteria.  However, these are the bacteria that kill yeast in the vagina, thus, eliminating these bacteria creates an environment conducive to yeast growth.

Other factors such as steroids, perfume and poor hygiene.

Men can also be afflicted with yeast infection with causes similar to those for women - low immune levels, antibiotics, diabetes, sexual transmission.  

I have always been wary of weight loss pills flooding the market today.  Most of these weight loss pills contain dangerous chemicals that may make you lose weight but give your body more problems in the long run.   As an advocate of healthy alternatives, I have always been looking for ways to lose weight naturally through the use of herbal weight loss supplements and have always shunned weight loss pills that make you lose weight quickly.  Gradual weight loss is a lot better than quick fixes for losing unwanted pounds as gradually losing weight does not rob your body of much needed nutrients for a healthy system.

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a water soluble vitamin that protects the body from free radicals.  Vitamin C helps produce collagen, a protein needed to develop and maintain healthy teeth, bones, gums, cartilage, vertebrae discs, joint linings, skin and blood vessels.  Studies have shown that an adequate intake of vitamin C is effective in lowering the risk of developing several types of cancers including cancer of the breast, stomach,  cervix, colon, rectum, prostate, esophagus, larynx, lung and mouth. It promotes a healthy immune system and is essential for the growth and maintenance of our teeth and bones.  Getting enough Vitamin C in your diet will help heal your wounds quickly and protect you from colds and infections. Vitamin C also helps regulate cholesterol levels and lessens the risk of developing high blood pressure and heart disease. It is rich in antioxidants that prevents elements such as smoke, smog and other toxins from converting to cancer-causing substances. 

Sources of Vitamin C

Citrus fruits are excellent sources of Vitamin C.  Lemons, oranges, kiwi, lemons, limes, grapefruit, melons, pineapples, watermelon are only some of the fruits rich in Vitamin C.  Vegetables that contain Vitamin C include asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, squash, green peppers, red peppers, cabbage, brussel sprouts, kale, peas, turnips, onions, corn, pumpkins, carrots, parsley. Cooking reduces the Vitamin C content of these foods so it is advisable to eat them raw.

Vitamin C Deficiency

Nowadays it is not common to see Vitamin C deficiency but some groups of people are at higher risk.  Smokers and heavy drinkers are at the top of the list. Those who do not regularly eat fruits and vegetables are also at risk.  Stress also significantly depletes the Vitamin C level in body. 

A deficiency in Vitamin C could lead to scurvy, a disease which is characterized by loose teeth, bleeding gums, anemia, gingivitis, rough dry and scaly skin. Humans do not have the ability to manufacture their own Vitamin C, thus, it is important to include Vitamin C in our daily diet.  Since it is water soluble, Vitamin C is one of the safest and most effective nutrients.  But we may not be able to get all the needed Vitamin C in the food we eat, Vitamin C supplements are sometimes recommended.  The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) is 60mg a day; however, some medical practitioners advice taking 500 to 1000 mg a day for more efficacy.  There is some evidence, though, that too much Vitamin C may cause the formation of kidney stones so it is advisable to ask your doctor the ideal dosage for you.

Green tea is tea made solely with the leaves of Camellia sinensis that have undergone minimal oxidation during processing. Green tea originates from China and has become associated with many cultures in Asia from Japan and South Korea to the Middle East. Recently, it has become more widespread in the West, where black tea is traditionally consumed. Many varieties of green tea have been created in countries where it is grown. These varieties can differ substantially due to variable growing conditions, processing, and harvesting time. Over the last few decades green tea has been subjected to many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its long-purported health benefits, with some evidence suggesting that regular green tea drinkers have lower chance of heart disease and developing certain types of cancer. Research shows that green tea may benefit people with high cholesterol problems as it lowers total cholesterol and raises the HDL (good) cholesterol.  An animal study suggests that polyphenols in green tea may block the absorption of cholesterol in in the intestines and help excrete these from the body.
Green tea is rich in antioxidants that deactivate free radicals.  Free radicals are substances produced as a result of chemical processes in the body and other external factors such as cigarette smoke and radiation.  It’s main antioxidant, EGCG, is many more times powerful than Vitamin E.  Studies show that EGCG causes cancer cells to die without damaging healthy cells. 
Green tea is one of the best weight loss alternatives without the harmful effects of diet pills may provide.  Research shows that polyphenols in green tea increases your metabolism and help you burn fat more easily.  Green tea can also prevent your body from absorbing fats from food and helps excrete these naturally from the body, thus, giving you a natural way to lose fat.   
Green tea contains amylase, a digestive enzyme known to break down starches and help prevent sudden surges in blood sugar levels specially after a meal.

Psyllium husks or psyllium is a natural dietary health supplement that has been established to be very effective for constipation.  The fiber in psyllium helps to provide more bulk and volume to stools, thus, aiding in regular bowel movement.  Regular bowel movement results to a cleaner and healthier colon as it helps you rid your body of toxins and prevents these from accumulating in your system.  When fecal matter accumulates in your colon because of irregular bowel movement, this results to bacteria formation, that can in turn result in irritation and inflammation and may lead to colon cancer.  If left unchecked, these bacteria may seep into your small intestines and into your bloodstream and spread throughout your system.   
Studies have also shown that the soluble fibers in psyllium husk can help lower cholesterol when added to a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet. Psyllium can also be taken as an aid in weight loss programs as when ingested, the fiber expands in the stomach and gives a feeling of fullness for a longer time.  The fibers acts as a sponge that absorbs the bad cholesterol and fats, and are flushed out before these enter the bloodstream.  
A word of precaution though, as reports of allergic reactions have been noted.   Thus, it is recommended that you seek the advice of a physician before taking. .  Also, psyllium impairs the absorption of some drugs, therefore if you are on medication it is suggested that medication be taken one or two hours after the ingestion of psyllium.

Dr. Hulda Clark's Gallbladder Cleanse

Preparation:





    • You can't clean a liver with living parasites in it. You won't get many stones, and you will feel quite sick. Zap daily the week before and complete the parasite killing program before attempting a liver cleanse. If you are on the maintenance parasite program, you are always ready to do the cleanse.
    • Completing the kidney cleanse before cleansing the liver is also highly recommended. You want your kidneys, bladder and urinary tract in top working condition so they can efficiently remove any undesirable substances incidentally absorbed from the intestine as the bile is being excreted.
Ingredients:



  • Epsom sales : 4 tablespoons


  • Olive oil : half cup (light olive oils is easier to get down), and for best results, ozonate it for 20 minutes. Add 2 drops HCI


  • Fresh pink grapefruit: 1 large or 2 small, enough to squeeze 2/3 cup juice. Hot wash twice first and dry each time


  • Ornithine: 4 to 8, be sure you can sleep.  Don't skip this or you may have the worst night of your life!


  • Large plastic straw : to help drink potion.


  • Pint jar with lid


  • Black Walnut Tincture, any strength: 10 to 20 drops, to kill parasites coming from the liver.
    Choose a day like Saturday for the cleanse, since you will be able to rest the next day. Take no medicines, vitamins or pills that you can do without; they could prevent success. Stop the parasite program and kidney herbs, too, the day before. Eat a no-fat breakfast and lunch such as cooked cereal, fruit, fruit juice, bread and preserves or honey (no butter or milk). This allows the bile to build up and develop pressure in the liver. Higher pressure pushes out more stones.

    2:00 PM. Do not eat or drink after 2 o'clock. If you break this rule you could feel quite ill later. Get your Epsom salts ready. Mix 4 tbs. in 3 cups water and pour this into a jar. This makes four servings, ¾ cup each. Set the jar in the refrigerator to get ice cold (this is for convenience and taste only).

    6:00 PM. Drink one serving (¾ cup) of the ice cold Epsom salts. If you did not prepare this ahead of time, mix 1 tbs. in ¾ cup water now. You may add 1/8 tsp. vitamin C powder to improve the taste. You may also drink a few mouthfuls of water afterwards or rinse your mouth. Get the olive oil (ozonated, if possible) and grapefruit out to warm up.

    8:00 PM. Repeat by drinking another ¾ cup of Epsom salts.You haven't eaten since two o'clock, but you won't feel hungry. Get your bedtime chores done. The timing is critical for success.

    9:45 PM. Pour ½ cup (measured) olive oil into the pint jar. Add 2 drops HCl to sterilize. Wash grapefruit twice in hot water and dry; squeeze by hand into the measuring cup. Remove pulp with fork. You should have at least ½ cup, more (up to ¾ cup) is best. You may use part lemonade. Add this to the olive oil. Also add Black Walnut Tincture. Close the jar tightly with the lid and shake hard until watery (only fresh grapefruit juice does this).

    Now visit the bathroom one or more time, even if it makes you late for your ten o'clock drink. Don't be more than 15 minutes late. You will get fewer stones.

    10:00 PM. Drink the potion you have mixed. Take 4 ornithine capsules with the first sips to make sure you will sleep through the night. Take 8 if you already suffer from insomnia. Drinking through a large plastic straw helps it go down easier. You may use oil and vinegar salad dressing, or straight honey to chase it down between sips. Have these ready in a tablespoon on the kitchen counter. Take it all to your bedside if you want, but drink it standing up. Get it down within 5 minutes (fifteen minutes for very elderly or weak persons).

    Lie down immediately. You might fail to get stones out if you don't. The sooner you lie down the more stones you will get out. Be ready for bed ahead of time. Don't clean up the kitchen. As soon as the drink is down walk to your bed and lie down flat on your back with your head up high on the pillow. Try to think about what is happening in the liver. Try to keep perfectly still for at least 20 minutes. You may feel a train of stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. There is no pain because the bile duct valves are open (thank you Epsom salts!). Go to sleep, you may fail to get stones out if you don't.

    Next morning. Upon awakening take your third dose of Epsom salts. If you have indigestion or nausea wait until it is gone before drinking the Epsom salts. You may go back to bed. Don't take this potion before 6:00 am.

    2 Hours Later. Take your fourth (the last) dose of Epsom salts. You may go back to bed again.

    After 2 More Hours you may eat. Start with fruit juice. Half an hour later eat fruit. One hour later you may eat regular food but keep it light. By supper you should feel recovered.

    Turmeric is a spice from South East Asia, cultivated primarily in China, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Java. Peru. Australia and the West Indies.. Turmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant and has a tough brown skin and a deep orange flesh.

    One of the health food supplements that has really caught my attention is the Wheatgrass. Wheatgrass is the young grass stage of the wheat plant, taken just after sprouting.  It is a powerful antioxidant as it contains chlorophyll.  Chlorophyll is a substance in plants that help it absorb sunlight, through photosynthesis, that provides its green color and gives plants life.  It is the “green blood” of plants and has been known to  stop the growth and development of bad bacteria.

    The seeds of the milk thistle (also known as silymarin) have been used as a natural health supplement and treatment for liver diseases for 2000 years.
